A concert around Schumann's infamous song cycle Dichterliebe, about love and loss, beautifully set to music alongside Schumann by Johannes Brahms and Dmitri Shostakovich. We will be playing Brahms's sonata in F minor, op. 120/1 as well as Shostakovichs's farewell to the world and bow to Ludwig van Beethoven as well as himself, his very last piece ever, the viola sonata op. 147.

These two great works will be paired with excerpts from Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe, his setting of poems by Heinrich Heine.
